Beaches
The Municipality of Macaé is situated in a very beautiful seacoast, crossed by various crystal-clear and limpid beaches; a real invitation to leisure. At Cavaleiros Beach you can find the main bars and restaurants in the City. Pecado Beach is ideal for surfing and line & submarine fishing. Forte and Imbetiba Beaches are suitable for strolling around and jogging.

Islands
The Sant’Anna archipelago provides the best sports fishing* and diving for marine life lovers, and it is deemed as an ecological sanctuary, which shelters seagulls colonies. It is situated 8km far from Macaé’s coast and is reached by boats that can be rented at the Municipal Market or at the Yacht Club. In Sant’Anna Island you can also find an old 1901 lighthouse that can be visited pursuant to an authorization by the Port Authorities.

*Sports Fishing
The Sports Fishing is a very important part of the economy through tournaments with the participation of various fishing clubs.

Macae’s Fishing Party
This is an annual contest promoted by the Macae’ s Fishing Club, which has been called Macae’s Fishing Party since 2002.

With the support and sponsorship of the Municipal Department of Sports and Leisure/ MACAETUR, the contest became a regional priority in the Brazilian National Sports Calendar.

By encouraging the practice of organized sports fishing, the event attracts its lovers to the municipality’s beautiful seacoast, bringing progress to local commerce and tourism.

Lakes
The Imboassica Lake is used for the practice of sports and fishing. Now, such practice is prohibited in Jurubatiba Lake, which is kept unpolluted and clean, all along its extension.

Mountain Area
This area provides great tourist potential because of its translucent water rivers and waterfalls, which form nice beaches suitable for bathing. The highlights are Pico do Frade, with 1.429m, and Peito de Pombo, a slope that looks like a pigeon sitting on the rock when seen at a distance. This region stands out also for the practice of radical sports.

Jurubatiba Park
The Park, with 14 thousand hectares, has very good species of the fauna and flora, some almost extinct. This region is unique, shows traces of the Portuguese colonial times in Brazil. In the park houses crocodiles, otters, capybaras, armadillos, anteaters and an expressive number of birds and fishes still not well known and studied, which can be observed during the eco-tourism walks.

Latiff Mussi Expo Park
It is located in São José do Barreto, 80 thousand square meters. The events held include Macaé Expo, with rodeos and first class Brazilian musical shows.
